Some car/engine that use only two coil packs for a 4 cylinder engine.
In which the cylinder 1 and 4 fire at the same time, at one of which cylinder the spark was wasted.
The system was called Wasted Spark.

No needs of cutting or soldering wires, simply Plug aNd Play.

The controller of the kit works with the stock ECU, also the ecu with a piggy back computer like emanage or fcon-is.
In this supercharged MX5, there is a FCON-IS used for boost tune.

Brief of the features:
The original wasted spark system that firiring the plug with cylynder 1/4 together, 2/3 together.
The order is changed by the controller to be sequencially independent order of 1,3,4,2.

COPs are NOT igniter inside. To work with this COPs an external ignitor is used.
Ignitor inside the COP can be easily damaged byt the heat insie the cop that coupled from the engine below.
That's why the oem COP is not best suitable to the retrofit.

Nomatter how the dwell time from the ECU is, the controller can modify it be be best fit the the COP.
That's the DWELL Control feature of thr DMF.

At each cylinder,the ecu can only fire one IGT pulse at each time on ignition.
Miss firing emaybe happend at some high boost and mybe at some very high reve speed.

The DMF controller will fire more pulses to the COP for multiple sparks.
That's the Multi-Sparks feature of the DMF.
The featue of multiple sparks is not achievable by any complete ecu replacement.

Based on firing timing received from the ECU, the controller can adjust with small amount time in the unit of us.
Either at advance or retard timing with some tens os us, varies at 3 sections of rpm zone.
